Julie and Mark Celebrate at Smokey Glen Farm

Posted in Weddings

My sister and brother-in-law (this is the first time that I have said that out loud) are back on the blog! They got married earlier this year up at Deep Creek Lake with just the immediate family. I am so happy to have Mark as a part of our family, he and Julie complement each other well.  This time around the images from their reception are up! We had a great time seeing all of our family and friends. Julie cut off her dress which turned out super cute and did an amazing job decorating the barn! Smokey Glen Farm was such a great place to have a reception. We danced, played mini golf, corn hole, disk golf tether ball and more.

  1. This is great! My fiance and I are doing something very similar next year (wedding with just immediate family then a big party at the Barn at Smokey Glen).

I would love to hear more about the details of the event. Did they hire a decorator or was it all DIY? Was the band hired or friends/family? And I’d love to hear any other tidbits of advice for an event there that you might have! Thanks!

  2. Laura, Smokey glen was a great! We didn’t hire anyone to decorate. They decorated the food and the beer. We did all the decorating our selves. Our band was great they are a family friend, however, do weddings all the time. They have played at my sisters too and will play at my other sister. His name is Chris Compton. I hope this helped. If you have any other question, let me know.

  3. Hi Julie,

Im pretty much copying your colors and reception ideas! What did you do for your table napkins and linens? the Linens don’t look floor length but are beautiful. Just wondering if you went with a cheaper option? Thank you for you help and inspiration. My fiancé and I don’t feel the need to spend a ton on rentals so any help would be great!

  4. My cousin is having their wedding on October 3, 2014 and I am so excited to see your pictures. Makes me so excited to join in their wedding at this place!

    God bless your marriage.
