A Couple of Family Portraits Rolled into One

A couple of old friends came in for a shoot a few weeks ago. We started in the studio then went for a walk in the Kentlands. It is so great seeing their little ones grow up. It won’t be long until they are playing baseball or singing along to Grease the way we did when we were growing up.

Chelsea and Kevin Married

Back in 2005 we met Bob, he was working for a company that we photographed products for. We went on to photograph his two daughter’s senior portraits and then kinda lost touch. Until recently, when he recommended us for his niece’s wedding!

Chelsea and Kevin were married at the charming Snow Hill Manor in Laurel, MD. They are probably the most relaxed but quirky pair I’ve ever photographed. From dinosaur socks, to a crossword puzzle in the ceremony program, to a bin full of funky hats, this wedding was awesome! And truly reflected their personalities and their union. Teatime Delicacies‘ food and service was amazing and Kake Korner’s cupcakes were delicious. Thanks for making our first wedding of the season tip top! -JN

Kate and Bryan Engaged

I’ve been waiting a little while to make this blog post. The pair weren’t officially engaged until very recently so we had to keep it a secret. Well, we successfully kept our mouths shut until today, when we can now shout it from the roof tops! Kate and Bryan are getting married!

They had a vision for their engagement photos, which is why we took them early. Behind their house, in the woods, was an amazing field of blue bells and we had to act quick before they perished. But first we met at Homestead Farm in Poolesville, MD before galavanting in the woods. We’ve known Kate for a couple years, she is an incredible massage therapist, yoga instructor, lover of life and the outdoors. And we were excited to meet Bryan and see what a great fit these two are for each other. Also… I can’t wait for my massage tomorrow.

Canadian Brass

Canadian Brass visited Gaithersburg, MD this week! On Monday, we met the quintet at the The Pritchard Music Academy where they gave an outdoor performance and signed autographs. Yesterday we photographed them in concert at Quince Orchard High School after giving a master class. They performed with the Pritchard Music Academy Brass and the QOHS Honors Symphonic Band. It was a pleasure working with and getting to know these five incredibly talented people. We will never forget their amazing sense of humor and encourage everyone to see them live!

Meaghan and Prital Engaged

We met Meaghan and Prital in Old Town Alexandria very early in the morning for their engagement session. Latos and I weren’t fully awake yet but the beautiful morning light succeeded in sparking our creativity. It was actually the first time we’ve photographed Old Town in the morning, it is like a completely different location and it was if we were seeing it for the first time. The pair were naturals in front of the camera and we can’t wait for the wedding!

Fundraising Fair at Kentlands Whole Foods

Phil and I popped over to Whole Foods this past Saturday enticed by the smell of burgers on the grill. While there we saw some of our favorite Kentland’s families and businesses supporting the Whole Planet Foundation. We especially want to thank Squeals On Wheels for my new found love of the hedge hog, My Gym for the zebra tunnel and Rockville Volunteer Fire Station 31 for showing us the jaws of life!

Maple Hill Ground Breaking

Yesterday was the ground breaking for Habitat for Humanity Montgomery County’s new property, Maple Hill, in Gaithersburg, MD. The site will hold 19 town homes. Mayor Katz along with the city council members were there to break ground as well as proclaim March 22, 2012, “Habitat For Humanity Day”. The site has already gone through several clean ups to recycle as much on the property as possible. The next step… permits and a bulldozer!
